One week from their stand at Te Matatini o Te Kāhui Maunga, Waitomo Papakāinga attended Te Puna Ora at Te Rangi Aniwaniwa to help the wider Te Hiku o Te Ika welcome home our Te Tai Tokerau Champions who brought home their first trophy, for first place in the composition of haka. This kaupapa was also called to celebrate their stunning performance at Te Matatini, reminding them of the love of the haukāinga.
Waitomo Papakāinga worked alongside Te Rūnanga o Te Rarawa, Te Hiku Hauora, Te Aupōuri, Mariameno Kapa-Kingi, Te Wānanga o Te Rangi Aniwaniwa and Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Rangi Aniwaniwa in the preparation of this kaupapa.
We acknowledge Te Rangi Aniwaniwa for putting on such a beautiful pōhiri. We also acknowledge Te Kura Taumata o Panguru who attended to share their aroha for Muriwhenua Kapa Haka. Finally, we acknowledge the many kaumātua, kuia and whanau of Te Hiku o Te Ika who came through to show Muriwhenua how much their mana is appreciated by their hāpori.
Finally, Waitomo Papakāinga are proud supporters of Muriwhenua Kapa Haka.
